Comms Black Out

Pretty much all our internet traffic runs through a router on Mauna Kea, which had a hardware fail last night, and we just got comms back about an hour ago. Given that it was a hardware issue, that our PI is currently in Houston, and a lot of our support people are off-island, I wasn’t expecting it to get fixed so quickly. Huge shout-out to Bill Wiecking and everyone else who got up early, stayed up late, and got us back up and running in such a short time-span. You guys are awesome!

Lots of fun updates for you today. My tomatoes have flowered! We’ll hopefully get to eat them in not too long then. And Zak 3D printed some brackets for one of the left-over Crew 2 iPads, and we now have our Habitat Telemetry displayed all day up on the wall. Pretty awesome stuff.

And to finish off the post, a few more name suggestions for the fish:

“A Fish Called Wanda”

and, of course, “Marvin”.

Ah yes, and if I don’t e-mail you/Voxer you back when you e-mail, it could be our internets down again. Don’t worry, we’re probably fine, and our support team is taking good care of us.
